How we Offset your Carbon Footprint

Measure, reduce, offset

Measure, Reduce, Offset

Climate change is a challenge facing every one of us. Our responsibility starts with measuring our harmful emissions, or carbon footprint. There's lots of advice available on how to reduce our footprint, but inevitably there's always some emissions left. That's where carbon offsetting can help.

What is offsetting?

What is offsetting?

“Carbon offset” balances your harmful emissions by funding a project which guarantees the equivalent reduction in emissions somewhere else. Because emissions are dispersed throughout the atmosphere, this effectively neutralises your carbon footprint.

How can I be sure?

Unfortunately, the majority of carbon offset providers fail to regulate their emission reducing projects to the standards required by the United Nations. This has led to many instances where people have bought carbon offsets which turned out to be bogus.

Clear's approach

Clear's approach

Clear is different. We only use Certified Emission Reduction certificates (CERs) authenticated by the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism. This is the method currently endorsed by the UK government and ensures that every tonne of emissions reduction is actually achieved.

There's more!

There's more!

Clear also provides a more enjoyable offsetting experience. You can save your carbon footprint on our website, and create your very own webpage to share with your friends. You also get a lovely Clear fridge magnet if you offset the emissions from your house, and a windscreen disc and key ring if you offset your car. Commuters who offset get a handy ticket wallet and flights earn a pdf certificate. Oh, and motorcyclists also get their own key ring too!
